Warm up Champions 2023: LOUD has never lost a series to DRX in an international tournament
Luke GerrardReading: 4 minutes.
With its principle VALORANT Champions 2023 which takes place this Sunday (6), h Riot Games announced the opening matches of the championship and the Brazilians met the first opponent of the Brazilian representative LOUD. Facing the South Korean DRX in their debut in the competition, the green and yellow arrive in Los Angeles with a good record against the team, having never lost a run against them. Remember here the meetings between the teams.
Undoubtedly the Brazilian team with the most international exposure, LOUD makes it to the World Cup EVALUATION seeking to recover from the early elimination suffered during his VALORANT Masters Tokyo losing the first two matches. That’s why they will meet DRX again in an international event and the statistics are on the side of the Brazilians. Since the organization’s entry into the script, there have been two contested series where the team emerged victorious against the South Koreans.
The first clash between the teams took place during the 2022 World Cup, who crowned the tupiniquim organization as world champion. After running over Latin America Behemoth in the quarterfinals, LOUD advanced to the upper bracket semifinals where they met DRX, who left the FunPlus Phoenix on the road achieving the same result as the Brazilians: dominant 2-0.
In the match that would have qualified one of the two teams to go to the final of the upper key, the LOUD matched their methodical style of play and managed to win the series 2-0. However, victory did not come easily – at least not on the first map. The South Korean managed to dominate the Brazilians in the Breeze attack and turned the sides 9 to 3.
However, the same dominance of the offensive side was repeated by LOUD, who closed the map 13 to 11 and, going to Haven, did not have much difficulty: 11 to 6 and the qualification to the upper final. Despite the setback against the Brazilians, DRX still lived to the final repechage, where they ended up falling to OpTic Gaming.
Clash in front of the Brazilian crowd
The second opportunity the organizations had to face each other was during the VCT//IN LOCK. The championship dedicated to the start of the 2023 season took place at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera, in São Paulo, and pitted two of the best teams in the world against an extremely passionate yellow-green crowd.
However, the screams that pushed LOUD to victory were not felt by the opposition, who gave the Brazilians much more work this time. Even starting the series well, with a 13 to 5 on Pearl and a 13 to 8 on Icebox, the team managed by Matias “Saadhak“viu Kim”StaxTune DRX for incredible recovery on the next two maps.
With scores of 13 to 7 in both Split and Fracture, the Brazilians’ run to the grand final was threatened by the South Koreans. Still, the big decider of the best-of-5 series went to LOUD’s most defining map in all the competitions it played: Ascent.
Flipping the sides with a slight advantage for the green and yellow collective at 7-5, it was just a matter of keeping the composure on the defensive side and applying on the map what he had shown throughout 2022. In this way, the Brazilians emerged victorious again with 3-2.
Despite this, the confrontation against its representatives VCT Pacific should not be taken as a guaranteed win for LOUD. DRX was one of the most dominant teams in the Pacific, falling only to Paper Rex in the league playoffs and has already proven to be an extremely ready team to face any adversity on international stages.
The South Korean team will have a chance to try to overturn the negative result against the Brazilians on August 6, starting at 7 pm. (Brasilia time), during VALORANT Champions 2023.
